What food do you take with you for a multiple day fishing trip?

Keystone light? When I was a young lad I used to go with canned chili, canned stew, pop tarts, Buckhorn beer, etc. No more! Good wine, good beer (see Bridgeport IPA, Full Sail IPA) , good food (i.e. fajitas, pasta, enchiladas, steak, etc.). I have so few opportunities to do over nighters that I want to go first class. Don't want to finish a day of fishing and go back to crappy vittles. Splurge baby! It makes the memories that much sweeter :thumb:

First off for a three day trip I would pack my pole case full of nips of scotch from the liqueur store (you can carry your pole). My vest would be full of beer nuts, jerky, and porn (you only need one fly the one on your pole right?) Boots? Waders? too much weight forgo those for a cooler of black bute porter.

If you want it simple, I suggest pre-chopping, pre-cooking, pre-freezing anything you can. It's really easy if you bring a bar-be-cue & grill steaks, hamburgers, chicken, etc. We always bring corn on the cob, which we shuck first, wrap in tin foil and cook on the bbq. Just heat up some beans or chili & you're set. My husband likes bacon & eggs for breakfast, but it's easier to bring yogurt, bagels, etc. Your awesome choice of beer actually takes up a bit of room & is heavy...and you have to pack out all that garbage/recycling. For lighter weight, take some whiskey & you can smash empty cans of beer (but canned beer is never as good). Of course we go through a case per day, so what do we know? We have a vacuum packer & it's awesome because you can seal your food & don't have to worry about it getting waterlogged in cooler water. We float so often on multi-day trips, I have become an expert at the food situation. Email us back if you want some more ideas...burritos, spaghetti, taco salad, etc. My husband actually asked me to email you because as we all know...I'm really the one in charge :)

For breakfast pre-made burritos with eggs, potatoes, bacon, cheese & preferably green or red chili but hot sauce will work. Followed up with a redbull will put you where you need to be and put you on the water that much faster :thumb:

Well, this is just me but I'm not really a hot dog on a stick kind of guy. I like to use tin foil to cook things like Salmon or Italian Sausage on the fire. Red Potatoes are a must. Use a cast iron skillet to saute them with onions, bell peppers and garlic. A good New York steak with melted blue cheese on top is always good. Then to top it all off, a good IPA and a can of Cope is all you need. :beer2:

3 jars of green olives ( pimento and jalapeno)
1/2 gallon gin
Hostess donettes ( both kinds)
Stanley thermos to fill werever
lots of cocktail ice to keep the gin cold ( I did mention gin didn't I)

seems like that would do

just got back from montana. i was the meal planner and cook for the trip. here's what we ate...

breakfasts: oatmeal, fruit, coffee and moose drool.

lunches: none. eat a big breakfast, pack some moose drool and fish all day.

dinners: salmon (coho caught by me the day before we left), pork loin, flank steak and chicken. prepared and grilled with assorted marinades and rubs. served with potatoes, corn, salad, bread, baked beans, rice, california pinot noir and moose drool.

desserts: macallan 12 year, cuban cigars (cohibas smuggled in by my wife) and moose drool.

snacks: energy bars (i prefer the Larabar), peanuts, beef jerky, potatoe chips and moose drool.

Oh, I am! your correct :p , but the topic was food and I love the olives and the gin goes better with olives, ,, now the rum, well its better with the donettes and coffee in the AM- especially the powdered sugar ones. Probably 100 wrappers laying around my Jeep from morning breakfasts.
