Roadhog, cool!. How is everyone else doing with the Christmas fly? I know we were out of heat and power for several days because of the windstorm, does anyone need me to push the deadline back a bit? After freezing my rear off for a few days I can be very understanding.

My fly is getting close. The power outage has stopped me in my tracks. I would appreciate a couple extra days. What would you think for a new date?

I have yet to recieve my November flies, slow down caused by the storm? Have most received theirs? I am struggling with the creative aspect of my Dec fly.

Mulligan, Don't know. All the flies went out on the same date, the 11th. I just do a batch shipment from the local UPS store. I do know the mail service here has been spotty so that may be it.

Okay fellas, the new deadline is the 27th of December. Winners will be announced on the 29th. You won't get your prizes by Christmas, but you'll get them.

I did find some time to tie a christmas fly, but was stressing cause it was going to go in the mail today and was likely to be late. The extension is much appreciated. ptyd

No problem on the extension, Guys. I know how bad things sucked here.

    Howdy Fellas,

Bet you thought I fell off the face of the earth, Huh. Nope, no such luck. When we lost power and heat during the December windstorm for 4 days I thought (thought being the operative word) that we were okay. Then I got my December water bill. Jumped from 60 dollars to over 200. When the heat was out some (as in more than one and less than 10) that run in interior walls froze, cracked, (dang PVC) and continued to leak. I've been under the house, tearing out soggy drywall and redoing half my plumbing. I'd much rather be tying flies or fishing.

Anyhow, for the first time since the marathon swap stated we had more judges and prizes than contestants for the December Tying Contest. Only Roadhog and Ned had their flies in by the extended deadline, so they get prizes.

The four judges selected Ned's Santa and Sleigh as the first place winner and Roadhog's Nativity Scene as second. These are both worth a closer look and there are a lot of dressed flies in both entries.

Looking forward to seeing your January flies folks.

Great looking flies! Very creative, I would never have that to put together a whole "scene".

I don't think that my fly was the best, but I had fun and I'm excited to get my fingers on some quality feathers. Wish we would have seen more tiers involved.

Kudos to Roadhog for creativity in nativity. He is the reason for the season.

Looking forward to streamers. I am thinking about clousers. Trying to make a good attempt at some south sound forage fish.

Ron, sorry about the pipes. And I was frustrated that I couldn't flush my toilet for 2 days.

    Happy New Year,
    Ned

Congratulations to both competitors in the tying contest.

Ned, I hate plumbing work. I'm a cabinet maker, what am I doing messing with pipes and valves?

Hopefully these guys will let us know how they like the Hackle from Conranch. I'd tell you that it's all I ever use anymore, but I'm biased. Denny and Liz are friends and fishing buddies of mine. Maybe we'll get an unbiased report from the winners.

From a past winner of a conranch hackle you guys are in for a treat. Congratulations Ned and Shad: good job. A collection of flies in each scene I would have never thought of that.
    Blessings
