Shot, produced, and uploaded on the iPhone. Not the greatest quality, but we had some good times with smiles all the way around. Please be kind and catch and release these beauties!

Awesome and thanks for sharing! What did you catch them on? What about the gear setup? I've never fished for lings and the wife and I are going to try and find some. Were you fishing up close to those rocks? What was the depth they were sitting at (I ask because it looks like it could be on the shallower side). Thanks again!

Too cool. Is a fly rod designed specifically for lings in the near future? Suddenly, I'm thinking of all those kelp beds and shallow rockpiles in the straits and up toward Vancouver Island....

I love my Sage RPLXi 11 wt. for Mexico and for Lings. The foregrip fighting handle is nice to put more leverage on them when they are first hooked. They will try to swim quickly to the hole that they came from and just when you think they are subdued and ready to net, they usually make a tail slap and another run having broken 3 8 wt. rods already. I don't recommend anything lighter than 10wt for these, it can be done on an 8 and in fact I've landed them on a 7 wt. Winston B2X, but definitely not recommended.
