Picking up a new rod

Next week I'm picking up a new rod that I've been waiting for since I ordered it last spring up at Rockport.
And as a bonus I get to spend a day fishing with its maker. The rod is 11'-9" in a 7wt spey category with a longer reel seat to accommodate my vintage reels. Other than that I'll let his photos tell the story.

I tried to get him to throw in that nice reel but it seems he has other plans for it...:)

He really does make some nice casting rods. Particularly considering how long he's been at it.
11'-9" for a 7wt sounds like a good utility size.

A beautiful piece of art and I suspect, a fine fishing machine.

Congratulations to you and to the maker. A piece of Tonkin Cane can become a treasure in the right hands. This looks like the magic worked.

One of those old red southbend perfects or a 1899 shakespeare pefect would go nicely with that rod , a J.W. young revolution woud look stunning but may be a little on the small size.I'm sure you'll have fun working out the solution to this pending problem.
