LOL...so bitter SOP :)

I've read STS since I was a kid, I like the Drake (mag, not forums), NW FF (the one Shewey Edits) and that's about it. Not too many "Steel only" mags.

I also follow "This is Fly", "Swing the Fly" and a few other online mags.

I like nwff, the drake and fly fish journal. I have e-subscriptions to nwff and the drake. I don't disagree with sop about much of the content being old hat, but I enjoy the photography in all the mags I mentioned as well as some of the destination articles in nwff.

just being honest the way i see it. however i do like nwflyfishing. it has great photography and gives you a taste without really lifting the skirt and showing you alllll the goods in a tacky whorish manner. its not steelhead specific though. sts is the style of magazine i originally refered too. not a terrible rag but i mean come on, how many times do i have to read about plugging and side drifting tactics that were in some cases covered ten times that year by the same rag. seems to me a guy could subscribe for two years and just xerox.

No arguments here. If I am honest, I buy STS mostly out of a sense of continuity...I've read it since I was in Kindergartern, including my grandpas old copies from the 70's. But it has changed a ton in the last 10-15 years. Way more ads, and (interestingly) fly stuff.

But I was also a pretty regular consumer of Fishing and Hunting News as well (or Fishing and Hunting Lies as we used to call it).

I just jones on all things fish :)

And I always appreciate honesty!

Oh yeah, I also look at all the pictures before reading a single word. FishPorn.

i used to read and subscribe to STS, back when it was printed on newsprint and had only B&W photography. It does have color now, doesn't it?

Unfortunately, the skirts of ALL the rivers have been lifted years ago. I have most major rivers, minor rivers, and tribs spelled out word for world, hole to hole through fishing and hunting news (still have a book of maps from the 70's that are still pretty damned accurate). STS hasn't helped either, but F&H News did more then probably all of them combined ever did.

BTW, I like thumbing through NW Flyfishing, but that's about it for me. Like mentioned, they are just repeating themselves.

Use to buy all of the ff mags, but you learn they are repeating things , so have not bought any in several years unless I see some interesting flys to tie.
