Although it has it's roots in the Appalachian highlands, a bushy fly like this should play well in pocketwaters anywhere.

hook - Mustad 94840 #12
thread - Danville 6/0 black
rib - xsmall wire gold
tail - golden pheasant tippet
rear hackle - olive grizzly (undersize by 2)
abdomen - dubbing yellow
wing - calf tail
hackle - brown/grizzly mix

mash barb, start thread at 70% mark

clean, stack, measure (hook shank) a clump of calf tail

tie in (make sure the first wrap is the farthest forward; each successive one should go back)

trim butts at an angle and cover with thread wraps

measure a clump (hook shank) of pheasant tippets

tie in, trim butts and smooth with thread

tie in rib

dub thread, dub body up to 60% mark

tie in hackle; wrap back to tail

capture tip with rib, then continue rib to front; tie off rib, trim hackle and rib

move thread in front of wing, pull hair up and prop it with thread

separate

post

brush a little Sally at the base and set dihedral

tie in hackle
