OK so I'm gonna skip the controversy on this one and go straight to the humor (yeah what else is new)...Best, that's actually pretty funny if you consider that a backwards thong wedgy is only possible on females! :D

Takes me a while but eventually I get it..

Roper, I'm a Washingtonian. Lived here all my life and like everything this area has to offer.

I'm not saying anything is missing here, it's sometimes the content and the repetitiveness that gets old. My semi-rant shouldn't have been directed straight at the NFR topic it's a bit more broad. People can't post a report without getting slammed. Most topics can't stay on point without people communicating via binary code which they think is cute.

A few years ago we had a group of folks that liked to get together from time to time and they called themselves Team Rugged. Well, that was some pretty interesting reading. Their outings were open to all but only a few would show up. I would have fit in quite well with that group but had other priorities at the time. The more they talked fishing the more they got slammed because people thought they were too exclusionary. So, they got tired of the internet pissing game and quit posting. There went some fun reading, which was mostly posting reports about their fishing expeditions.

Not slamming anyone here but what the heck does this have to do with anything?

Flyfishing is my passion in life. But the past few years I've gone back to calling myself just a fisherman. Gear fisherman can tolerate those that fish plugs, fish floats, toss hardware, sidedrift, etc. But as this forum has evolved we can't talk fishing anymore because no matter what a person does they get ripped for it. A year or two ago Zen posted about a 20 fish day while nymphing for steelhead. He was ripped for it because of his lack of understanding for the conservation of our fisheries. He should have swung all day and only caught a couple fish. That is what a true sportsman would have done. What a joke!

So, all that's left is to post SFR and NFR threads.

Winter is here. Spring is coming. People will be fishing and some will be catching their first. I've rambled enough. Tight lines.:thumb:

I for one will take the good with the bad. The odd NFR post will not deter me from enjoying this forum - I after all do have the option of opening it.

For those of us in the newbie class (at least speaking for myself) I enjoy the banter and especially the knowledge transfer that people opening share here.

I've tried to be polite, but can't see why my post is being picked on. You got a secret fetish for leaf blowers? Love the Kelly Blue Book? Into College Football? Why not jump on them? Or is it that I hurt your delicate feelings here somehow? http://www.washingtonflyfishing.com/board/showthread.php?t=36379 Since my post is the only one you posted on, and the only one mentioned here, I have to wonder.

Oh, and to answer your question. It has dick to with fishing. HENCE THE FREAKIN' NFR TAG! DUH!

Richard is absolutely to the point. I have no problem skipping over the numerous NFR posts, but the unintended consequence is that actual flyfishing threads that might otherwise get additional posts more than a day or two after being started are bumped to the second page and tend to die an early death. Compare page one of the saltwater board with page one here; in the salt forum there are threads dating back to 12/8/06 (with no NFR's), while this forum's first page has only two threads dating back even to yesterday (with six NFR or SFR posts). As they say in website search engine optimization, it's all about being on the first page - very few people will move beyond the first page of results. Edit: Oh... wait... more than six threads here are NFR, some (including this one) are just not labeled as such.

I'm not taking this to a personal level. My original post was to ask why there are so many NFR posts when in Forum Rules Chris politely asked to keep it to a minimum, actually that it be the exception. I was just using that one thread as an example. And yours was a perfect example. Nonsensical drivel. I've posted on many other threads than just yours. But apparently I'm not the only one wearing them a bit too tight tonight.

One point of mine being that people can't post reports/pics on a FF forum without just being hammered on. So, the only posts left that are safe are NFR.

    INTERNET PARANOIA RULES!

So here we are on a flyfishing forum where any mention of location, rig, technique or fly pattern get pounded on as IRRESPONSIBLE DISSEMINATION OF INFORMATION THAT MIGHT POSSIBLY LEAD TO ANOTHER PERSON CATCHING A FISH - or- GOD HELP US ALL, THAT SOMEONE MIGHT LEARN SOMETHING.............

That leaves NFR'S as the only socially acceptable variety of post.

I HAPPEN TO KNOW THAT HOMELAND SECURITY HAS A DEPARTMENT WHOSE MISSION IS, ENTIRELY, FOCUSED ON UNLAWFUL DISPERSAL OF FLYFISHING INFORMATION. THOSE OF YOU WHO ENGAGE IN THIS PRACTICE WILL MOST LIKELY BE BUSTED, AND SOON. YOU WILL BE SENT TO THIS PRISON CAMP ON THE MOJAVE DESERT. FOREVER.

sweet jesus christ in the foothills.

as for myself, had an interesting conversation with a gearfishing friend of mine this evening. we're gonna team up, so when you see a raft or a db on the OP, with both a gearfisher and a flyfisher onboard, that's us.

    peace,

    otter

  11. Maybe we should ask to have a place where we have can talk about Non Fishing Related items/Semi-Fishing Related items. Like a regular chat room.

You're all starting to sound like a bunch of WOMEN (not that that's bad if in fact you ARE a women).

    This isn't a chat room!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm new to fly fishing, Washington and this board. I came on here to LEARN ABOUT FLY FISHING, period. I need to know how to tie knots and what type of fly to use in different rivers / lakes.

If you have NFR topics you want to get off your chest, CALL OPRA they don't belong here.

    I feel better now, OUT!!

I think that might satisfy everyone. Lots of fishing sites (or hunting, auto, motorcycle, boating, whatever) have a section on the board for general discussions.
