Those are awesome flies Leland, I saw them in that magazine a couple years ago and the image always stuck with me, but I wasn't swinging for steelhead at that time.... didn't realize they were yours either. When you posted a shot of the fly in another post, I got all excited again and tied three versions up, but didn't recognize the hook, so they're on Gami #2 Octopus hooks. I'm picking up Drop shot hooks tomorrow. Thanks for posting, they are awesome. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2
I tie and fish a lot of this stuff... Coachman Spider: Green-butt 'Spader' PT 'Spader' Steelhead Softhackles
The only other fly I fish is this one I learned from my friend Juro Mukai. I named it the Creeper. It looks best wet Leland.
sorry about the delay... the winner is Jack's burlap. good job to everyone who posted their great flies.
i chose the burlap because it reminds me so much of a fly i landed two fish on the one and only time i fished the north fork of the stilly and it was an exceptional tie and photo.
Not sure, I just figured it was a long weekend so I'd bump the thread so Chris would make a call and we can get rollin' on tying into September... Nice work Jack!
Not to hijack, but I bet this would make an awesome estuary chum fly! I'll be tying some up for next month! Thanks Leland!
I didn't take the photo. A professional photographer took them and I wasn't with him when he shot it but I am sure he mounted it on a small plexi post just as flies are mounted on plates and shadow boxes. Leland.
