It's like a super food supplement, supposed to help with coat and skin health

My little guy just itches and sheds something terrible, we tried a grain free food but he won't eat it. I just hate to see him uncomfortable

You might try salmon oil. Once we started giving this stuff to Mia, she stopped scratching so much and there was a noticeable improvement of her coat.

This is just the stuff we use... there's many different brands of salmon oil out there. They are all supposed to help with skin problems.

A little bacon grease poured over their dry food does wonders for a coat, too.

Dogs are natural carnivores, consider transitioning into raw meat....slowly.
Re salmon oil. Processed oil is not a problem. Stay away from raw salmon, salmon poisoning is a real threat.

A little sunflower oil in their dry food helps their coat too, and my guy likes it.

    Mark -
Yes we use it every meal for our Pug. It helps with his digestion, mix with water and add to food. He is not a good fishing dog but he is a great companion and loves everyone he meets.

A story and a tip you'll never know you need until the day you need it....

Two dogs when this happened. A black lab and a lab/Rhodesian mix.

We put a meal in a crockpot and both left for work. Our dogs never really got into anything, so no thoughts were given to the horror that would happen later.

I got home first to the greeting of...no dogs. Weird.

Then I found the crockpot on the kitchen floor. Some of it anyway.

There was no food to be seen. It had all been licked clean. But....there was this other matter at hand. I found the outside edge of the glass top of the lid.

No food. No glass. Those damned dogs ate the glass! All of the glass!

Panic mode. Called a vet. The solution given was to soak cotton balls in half and half and feed each dog about a dozen. I was skeptical.

I spent that whole night worried my dogs would be internally shredded and dead by morning. The cotton balls, however, really did the trick.

The dogs were alive in the morning. That day they both passed a large white turd. As it fell out of their asses, it made the distinct sound of broken glass tinkling down in a pile. I'll never forget the sound or picking that mess up in the scooper.

Neither of them ever had any issue with the glass and for that I was very thankful.

Oddly, I had to do this cotton ball routine again for my black lab after he consumed a bunch of cooked chicken bones. Same result. White poop filled with bones.

    It really works.

I hope I never have to do it again.

That stuff is actually legit on a bagel as an adjunct to the cream cheese.

Our late Lab and Rott loved that on their food. Def kept them in the nature positive side.

It's getting closer and I hate it. Can't imagine it.

Just giving him as much of me as I can.

Scratch those doggie ears today. Give a "good boy".

This is gonna crush me when it happens.
