Nice fish! Since that's a yak fish it's probably in a few other trophy shots as well. Somehow he survived .

had a buddy along tonight to snap this real quick, with just barely enough light left. those of you afraid of seeing big, huge, badass RAINBOW TROUT being held out of the water for about 2 whole seconds better look away, shits about to get real.

That is a cool pic for being outta focus. I'm assuming that thing hanging from its maw is a monster streamer?

yeap, about 9" of sculpin nastyness. as for the pic, i have a pretty crappy cell phone, and there was just barely enough light to get this shot, a few minutes later it was completly dark. i guess it doesnt focus well in low light.

Been thinking I should learn to fish streamers in freestone rivers. I'm mostly a stillwater guy.

Feel free to suggest technique, don't mention places.

Here is what perplexes me: the line or line end. I assume some technique is used to get the streamer down.

I have lots of lines, but I don't know what to choose for streamer fishing. I have 5, 6, 7 wt and 6wt switch rods to choose from(still need to learn to line and two handed cast the last one).

Is it all swinging or is there some dead drifting before you come tight and swing.

Any of those rods will work. Just get the fly close to the bottom... Super close if fishing sculpin.

Dead drift down slots works but I prefer swinging. Some guys even throw them under indicators.

Regardless of what you do always swing it to the hangdown. When fishing a sculpin pattern I give it slight twitches during the swing to better mimic a sculpin. Vast majority of my sculpin hits come right after a slight twitch

I think Mr. Goodfellow wants you guys to leave your fish in the water.

A photo on the internet is more likely than not enough evidence for a citation to hold up in court. And more agency folks than you think do check the internet fishing forums. Just in case anyone wants to know.

Jeezus I need toget back over the mountains with a box of flies for you to pick through again. You've really gotten to know your rivers Eric. Good stuff for sure.
Goodfellows just a bit green with envy me thinks.
