Picked up a BIIMX Switch for west end OP winter steelhead, anyone have any current line recommendations for that rod and local, looking at the Rio Scandi Short Versa Tip, yeah's or nay's most welcome.
I used my brother's last weekend. He had a 510 airflo Skagit switch on it with a T-14 flow tip. It worked great. I would go that route if I were to own that rod. It certainly could throw bigger tips if need be as well.
The Scandi-Short VT in 8wt (485 grains) should be a great match in my opinion.
Consider getting a matching 8wt Intermediate body to complete the kit. Higher flows, cold water, etc.. well worth the investment.
I use same as above (RIO SS-VT) only in 6wt kit on Guideline LeCie and am very pleased with performance.
On my own Winston 7123, fishing a Guideline 'DDC' 9/10 intermediate multi tip kit cut to near same grains. Also a Scientific Anglers Extreme full Intermediate head and 10' - 14' of T-14 ..ez-breezy delivery 'Scandit' style
Thank you fjay and shotgunner, ordered up the Scandi-Short VT + Intermediate, appreciate the feed back.
