First I am a huge Patagonia fan...

Recently I was approached because I was wearing a Howler Bros hat .. I like Howlers gear.. The hats was made well but the way I wad approach made me wonder if there is something I was missing...

Is there a brand war I am not aware? Is it a regional thing?
    wth ???

We need more detail about the "approach": who, what'd they say, any touching, etc., etc.

Anyone who would approach a fly fisher to say anything about the brands they use or wear is a grade A clown.

Wait-What? Didn't we have a thread recently where some of us were disgusted with the proliferation of logos on some gear?? Simms boots and Orvis reels come to mind as logo bloat has invaded both of those products. Others thought that you couldn't have too many logos as they revealed how much you had spent and on what.

I think what I am hearing you say is that your cover was blown by the logo, correct?

Flat bill or bent? What does Patagonia have to do with this? Were you on the river? Were you holding a Sage rod? Was an indicator involved? We really can't help with such limited information. There is definitely a brand war and they all want to win.

While it does not impact my purchase decisions, I certainly fall in the camp of folks tired of feeling like a billboard. In fact I'm ordering a name patch (like auto mechanics used to sport "Dave") and I'm going to aqua seal it over the manufacture name on my new wading jacket.

Come to think of it, my waders (there than a distinctive print pattern) have no name on them at all.

Like I said it's not a huge deal, but kind of annoying. And I assure gear makers, nobody is going to buy gear because they see me using it.

Amazon.com sells just about any logo patch or sticker that you would ever want. If you use Velcro on the patches, you can tune your outerwear to each and every circumstance :)
