I was thinking about making a trip to Cady lake in June. Has anyone fished it before? What is it like and how is the fishing?

Fished it once, didn't catch anything but a one 25 incher. The fish are big but are poor fighters and are kind of ugly. The lake gets extremely crowded, especially since it is so tiny. Iwould compare it to Rocky Ford in a lot of ways.

hey jonduke thanks for the information. The 25 incher sounds nice but I'm not a big fan of crowds. This weekend I'm going on a hike in trip to Lake Kanim. I'm not sure how much fishing I'll do but I will definetly scout the place out. Hopefully all the snow is out. I here it is quite a hike.

    Jakebird,
This is probably where you found out about Kanim, but if you haven't read this report, is is sure worth your time. I found it on washingtonlakes.com and when i read it, it sure made me want to go!

Want a pristine lake to yourself less than two hours from downtown
Seattle? Want nonstop action with 11"16" cutthroats? Impossible
    you say! Not at all.
Kanim lake is a 21 acre lake at the headwaters of the N. fork of
Snoqualmie River at 4300' elev. There is no trail to Kanim Lake
and probably never will be. This is for he men only with back woods
    navigation skills.
From Snoqualmie Falls take the N. Fork County Road to Spur 10 gate.
Check with the county first as this road is closed in extreme fire
hazard. Continue past the gate on the county road about 10 miles.
The road then forks, take the left fork which may be signed FR5730.
Go to the end and park. Bush whack Southerly until you hit the creek
from Kanim. Follow up the creek about two miles. You will come to a
vertical glacier headwall cliff that looks impassable. It's not!
Go to the left side where a finger of Alaska Yellow Cedar comes down .
Climb the 200' cliff by using the Cedars for footholds and pulling
yourself up. Once on top bear back right a short hike to the lake.
There is scant room to camp (2-3 spots) at the outlet, the rest of
the lakeshore is rockbound and steep. Best fishing is at the boulder
garden at the far end of the lake. You can cast flies or small lures
and catch very nice cutts there. Everything works here as the fish
    are numerous and hungry.

    * Editor's note: This lake is for real. It's below Lennox Mt. and nearby lakes include Coney, Bench, and Paradise. Thanks to Ron for sharing this lake.

Yeah I read article earlier this week. It sounds to go to be true. I not to sure about that 200' vertical glacier wall though, but nice 11-16 inch cutthroat make it worth at least look. I'm Really looking forward to a bunch of alpine trips this summer. I have really had Castle lake on my mind lately. I definelty want to try it out. Well I'll let you know how it looks this weekend. Maybe I'll get to put my new 3wt to use.

Cady Lake is a small lake more like a pond in size in the hills
above Bellfair containing Triploid Rainbow, Landlocked Steelhead,
Browns, Cutts and 2 other Rainbow varieties. The fish can run big.
One 31" was caught this Spring. I last fished it about a month ago and white baitfish patterns incl. white wooly buggers were working
well for nymphing and dk. brown or black caddis dries for top action. I had one monster break me off after poroposing. He hit a
dk. brown caddis emerger fished on an intermediate line. Take an
assortment of dries and wets because most of them work there at
one time or another. It is a very bushy shoreline with too much
timber to backcast from shore. You need to be on a pontoon boat,
in a tube or motorless topcraft. There are internet directions on
Cady Lake Manor. Go to their website. They own the property sur-
rounding the lake. No access fee but donation box. Good Luck.

One other thing. It's catch and release and flyfishing only.

Thanks a lot for the information. I'm going to try to make a trip there soon before the water gets to warm.
