Sadly, my experience allows me nothing to add. But I had to say, this is a great thread -- thanks all for your insights.

This thread reminds me of some animated gif's coonrad made from some hot Neah Bay popper+coho action we had a couple summers ago. I've posted these before, but it's been a while.

Those Gifs are very cool!! I've had stripers play the same game in rivers, but i haven't had the opportunity to try the same with salmon off the coast. I've got the flies, I just need the ride...

IBN, Hey, thanks for reposting the flicks. Gets me pumped for this summer, even though I'm looking at snow today.

Coonrad actually put together a funny 90 minute DVD of quite a bit of fishing out at neah bay and some other local spots, it has some great footage. I've given copies out to people who I know in person, if anyone is interested in getting a copy if you send me a blank DVD and a couple bucks for shipping I'd be happy to burn one and send it back to you.

    PM me if you're interested.

    Ibn,

After seeing your mini-flicks, it made me wonder about the expression on the faces of newbies fishing those poppers. I know I'd be shocked witless to witness that kind of slashing take for the first time.

I was getting pumped up for summer. After seeing IBN's videos I CANT WAIT. Must give the popper action a try this year.

From personal experience fishing up north in August, those surface follows and takes make otherwise normal appearing, sedate, adult human males scream like little girls, including yours truly.
