I think the extra bugs should stay with the swapmeister for his time and dedication that must put in to manage such a group of hooligans...

I was thinking of putting a piece of corn as the head of the fly and then tying a bunny strip on the hook and calling it the advanced black leech of death :p

    Too Cold for Carp

    Soreshoulder:

Timing is everything...The temperature is too low for productive carp fishing right now...

I have a medium sized koi pond with 4 large koi ( 20 pounds) and they are dormant right now, in fact if i did feed them it might kill them..their metabolism is so slow that digestion might not take place correctly in the gut...(Carp don't have a proper stomach) 50F degrees is the threshold where feeding activity starts. Carp are warm water fish that have adapted to colder climes.

Late April or early May is your best first chance. Carp are feeding ravenously then prior to spawn. Spawning carp are tight lipped so get your fix in that window of time.;)

If you need a good location to wade the flats email me...or ask the Blue Dun fly shop...:thumb

Roper, hope you don't mind me being the "tell the people who is in the swap, guy", as I originated the great idea of the carp fly swap, but didn't have the guts to carry it through.:7 :beer2

Methinks that you need to send them to roper. I have just a couple left to tie. Is this carp fly swap still on?

It had better still be on..mine are all ready to go, will ship them this week. Worked darn hard making them look nice too (most of my stuff looks like a 3rd grader tied em). Where to ship them?? Ropers address is up quite a ways, and he can expect mine soon. Will spring ever get here??? Snowing outside...

Black Leech of Death is coming atcha. You should have seen the 20 pounder I caught up at the ford one day. It was just after the spawn and the carp came up in droves. I think it was their spawn anyway. Sick and huge, sick and huge.

No problemo, mi amigo! All the other great looking flies are on my tying table awaiting their mates so they can go on holiday together.

    Roper,

Good things come to those who wade...
