I'm fortunate to live where cast and blast is the norm during the fall months. When the mountain grouse season opens in September I load up the horses, my favorite 4 wt. rod and my 28 Ga. Parker and go into the Big Horn mountains for a day of casting and blasting. The trout are generally small ranging from 10-12 inches with the occasional 16+ inch cutthroat. At least once a season, we spend a week trout fishing and grouse hunting in the mountains. During the waterfowl and pheasant season, I hunt and fish along the Big Horn river and the islands in the river. I change to a 6 wt. rod and a #2 AyA in 16 Ga.
