Wow that fly has so much hair going vertical, some benefit to that? Foam body, rubber legs, floats nice. It has some purple in it too?

So what makes you like this fly over another hopper? I'm very curious, thanks. P.S. What size do you fish it?

Yes, purple and black work. The large white wing functions as an indicator at low light.

The fish have seen a thousand variations of this fly by this time of the year. Because of this, I only throw them at dusk and with a caddis dropper and the only reason I use it, is to indicate takes on the caddis that you otherwise wouldn't see (due to it being dark).

As far as why people like this fly, because it's easy to tie and flat out works.

Do you like fishing the purple ones? I thought it was kind of a fad and haven't seen much action on them.

Purple and pink foam bugs you can't beat them. You can get some cool foam at walmart in big sheets for 5 dollars they have sparkly kind 2. Go get some and try it out with the purple or pink. And if you cut it in really thin you can wrap it around for bodies. It works great for the stimi's I tie.

Yea, we pick them up on purple. Just depends on how I feel that day. :D

During the summer here, you could tie a cigarette butt to a hook and raise fish.

I'm pretty fond of the yellow chubbys but I might give purple a shot.

I just bought 15 sheets of 11 1/2" x 12" x2mm thick sheets of foam for $.33 a sheet for the plain stuff and $.45 a sheet for some sparkly covered stuff.

I've caught a lot of fish in Montana on this fly the past couple of months. Good pattern, buggy, floats well and excellent visibility in low light conditions.

Sent from my little square phone thingy...

My two biggest rainbows on dries ate purple chubbies. I really dig on purple that magical last hour of light. Even hooked a steelhead on the dead drift on one last week...
