Fished a few new to me sections of the Clark Fork over the weekend between Forest Grove and St.Regis. I was
surprised by some of the looong flat water sections, but enjoyed the river. The first day we had some great action at pod's of sippers on PMD's and Trico's. The rest of the fishing was primarily the hopper dropper game and was also good. Landed some very nice rainbows, but the fish of the trip for me was as a beauty of a cutthroat. The Clark Fork is an underfished river IMHO. One can drive from Idaho border all the way to Drummond without even seeing anybody fishing it. The dark caddis hatch just before dusk brings up some amazing fish (even in DT Missoula).

Sloway is appropriately named, although the fishing can be very good. A headwind turns that section into a slog-fest.

Nice! Fishing from #6 or #8 hoppers to #22 Tricos - that's some fun fishing! Did you wade or float?

It was some fun fishing and fun exploring new sections of that river. We floated two days and waded some creeks in the area the following day. Day 1 was forest grove to superior and day two was sloway to st. regis

I have fished the CF for many years. There are some really great spots that get very little attention.

There are a lot of very site specific spots which can really produce down low on the CF.

I'm unfamiliar with both Forest Grove and Sloway: know Superior and St. Regis both pretty well as the jumping off spots for our trips to Kelly and the upper St. Joe.
