Anyone ever use Haig-Brown's "Coho Blue" or "Coho Golden" for Silvers?
Look at them luscious wild streamers
sitting up on the shelf
blue, red, and golden, man, they are somethin' else
they mesmerize me, the way they sparkle and shine
I'll have to try and whip one up and tie it on my line!
(No apologies to the Youngbloods)
I guess I'll have to wait until next season! Nice Jack.
Wow, those are very cool. I don't think I've seen them, or don't recall seeing them. These look like they might work well on Lake Crescent also.
I have a stash of Mustand streamer hooks and I'll give this a try. Are your flies tied on 6XL shanks?
I've used a Coho Blue in Oregon for Silvers and it worked quite well. Of course I had to mess around with the pattern to make it much more simple to tie but it does work.
Size 2 6xl Gaelic Supreme Mike Martinek hook.
The original Haig-Brown pattern called for a 2 1/2 inch long Dee hook or a 7/0 low water salmon hook.
