Well it's August and I finally made a trip to the Columbia where I could fish from the bank below Wanapum.... sort of. Water is still running high enough to be into the brush making back casts a no-no in some places. I caught fish in places that are normally high and dry. Water temp seemed cool so maybe we'll have good fishing in August which usually kicks my butt. Only landed one carp, broke off a big one. I waded darn near up to my neck to get out to a flat I like and ended up fishing deeper water than I would like to have. That made for a short field of vision. Nothing easy about but it still beats watching golf!

Wind was fine till late... meaning not strong enough to mess with casting. By the time I was leaving it was getting strong enough to be challenging. The wind can vary greatly from Vantage to Beverly to Desert Aire... generally if it's blowing from the west or NW it's calmer at Desert Aire. Sometimes just going below Sentinel Gap make a big difference.
