Redington's CT is a sweet little rod IMHO, and others think so too. Unfortanetly Redington does not sell blanks. With them being offered for 80ish bucks at times, such as Cabela's does now, have any of you rod builders thought about stripping one down and giving one a makeover? Nicer hardware/components...just wondering ?
Stripping down and rebuilding is about 3X the work of building from a new blank in my opinion with a reasonable chance that you could damage the resulting rod blank cosmetically or otherwise. I would rather find someone that has a CT in the length and wt I desire and find a blank with similar characteristics. Maybe start with a Batson RX6 and work from there with some side by side test casting. If I wanted slower maybe look at some of the newer glass blanks that are on the market.
