We've been without cable TV for over 6 months now and honestly I don't miss it... too much. We've nearly exhausted the library's selection of DVD's and my wife is wanting to get some of her favorite shows back. I did miss not seeing college games and Golf Channel. Direct and Dish are our options. I realize most on the forum have Infinity/Comcast, but for those not using them, what satellite TV do you use and what has been your experience?
Update for others who might be looking into life without cable. My FIL bought us a Roku 4D and that by itself brought plenty of life back to the TV. The free movie channels are quite limited in both volume and currency. Worse is the crazy number of commercial breaks.
Since Sling TV is one of the Roku remote options, we elected to give their 7 day trial a whirl. It's been nothing short of flawless. We ended up selecting the "Blue" package $24.99/month and the extra sports package $10/month. The Blue offers the Food, FX, SciFi, and several others my wife likes and the sports has The Golf Channel. We'll likely switch our Netflix DVD to their streaming plan for movies. This will provide more than enough "entertainment" emanating from the black hole for less than $50/month.
No satellite dishes or long term subscriptions and so far, even out paltry 8-10MBS wireless speed has proven just fine. No delays, buffering, etc. Thanks to all for the input and suggestions.
