Lately, my thoughts are circulating beyond the muddy banks of the Wishkah, farther West and further South, around the Harbor to the estuary of the Elk River and the land surrounding it. There is a chunk of property here that is under consideration to be included in the Elk River portion of the WDFW Johns River Wildlife Area.
It is one of nine WDFW Land Acquisitions Project Proposals throughout the state. These can be viewed on the WDFW website.
The Elk River area under consideration is right out behind by neighborhood. I'm all for including this land in an expanded WDFW wildlife area.
The only folks that may be opposed to this are local elitist hunters and fishermen.
