Why settle for one layer of foam goodness when you can have three? Change colors/size to suit your needs.

hook - Dai Riki 280 #6
thread - UTC 140 tan
underbody - Ice Dub hare's ear
body - 2mm foam tan, brown, dark brown
wing - Congo Hair grey
legs - medium rubber barred tan

mash barb, start thread

dub underbody, finish a little bit forward of the barb

taper foam (gap width); tie in (extend back gap width)

tie in a hank of CH

fold back, tie down 2nd foam strip

tie in legs

add a bit of dubbing and wrap forward (forgot to dub at first tie-in; optional)

pull foam forward and tie down

tie in another hank of CH

fold back, tie down 3rd foam strip

add front legs

a little dubbing

trim wings, legs, head

looks like a Fletcher class DD laying a smoke screen

This one's tied to (kinda) imitate a short-wing stonefly; there's a couple streams in MT where I see the shucks on the shoreside rocks throughout the summer. I've had a bit of luck with standard Chubbies but this one should float even better.
