A couple of days ago I fished a west Olympic Peninsula river and caught a beautiful, fat dolly varden. It probably weighted 5 to 6 lbs. and was a "load" on an 8 wt. rod once it got out into some pretty strong current. It was hooked on a 3 inch bait fish pattern as seen in the side of the fish's mouth as I was swinging the pattern.

Roger, how did you talk that fish into posing so nicely beside your rod?

BTW: That look like it might be a 30 incher. Nice.

I sweet talked to the fish like I try to do with my wife. However, the "dolly" was more respective than my wife;).

I think that you are right. I didn't tape the fish but thought that it was probably pushing 30 inches.

Gorgeous fish! I like the picture angle too, really shows the girth.
