was a fly fishing site. Lately all that is talked about it everything not associated with fly fishing. Football, Pro and College, what car is best, hows the decor of your house. If somebody puts up that they went fishing, it gets a few hits only. It almost as if they don't want to talk about fly fishing. Just what in the hell goes on in this world. I Almost don't even want to come here anymore. It's like FB. Nothing but garbage anymore.
I've posted up every time I've caught a fish in the past 6 weeks. Don't bother searching as there won't be any posts... Tough way to head into winter fishing but I did manage to stay true to my "go top water or go home"decree I set for this year.
It's officially winter... Now that someone is bitching about the shack-nasty NFR topics. Thanks OMJ, for carrying that torch again this year. Added an NFR tag, and the NFR prefix, and added NFR to OMJ's custom title.
Jim, I suggest you change your WFF link from the general fly fishing forum to the "new posts" page. Look to the top for Forum > New posts. That'll include new posts in the sub-forums that you will find more interesting.
Or... You can click your name in the upper right, then preferences, then under the "Ignored Prefixes" section, choose "NFR" and then save. Do that and you won't even see them.
Here is a westslope cutt I hooked in the top of the head. Thought the hook placement was strange when I brought him in. Another reason to make sure your hooks are sticky sharp.
I think most of the locals here have cussed and discussed anything and everything fishing related, so now it's all about discussing everyday life. So, yeah.....like facebook

Same goes for the salt and stillwater subs. Reports, pics, gear and technique discussions. Way less "regulars" in the subs with actual fishing content like Nick mentions.
Sorry OMJ. I don't mind the NFR stuff too much but agree we could use more fishing content. I was hoping to get out this week for winter steel, or maybe a late, late coho and would've posted a report.
Unfortunately I've been holed up fighting the plague. Starting to feel better but no way I'm ready to hit the river. Or as you once put it so eloquently, "and then you get the drizzling shits".
I wish I could post a report, but my waters are frozen to where I can't cast and not frozen enough to walk on, so I'm plumb fuckered in the fishing department right now.
Just for you, Jim, I will endeavor to wet a line every day for a week and post my results. This will be difficult since there are so few hours of light and I work full time. Plus, it's getting pretty cold and won't get above freezing next week. But I have a big river across the street from my office (that I never fish), so I will give it a try just for you!
And to start, here is one from the weekend so quit your friggen whining!

Yep, the REAL BIG RIVER. The old oxbow ponds downstream are open too, although I may have to hit them after work and that town creeps me out in the daytime let alone at night, LOL.
On the weekend, I can go further afield so there are a lot more options. However, at the very least, I will be able to give OMJ a useless fishing report instead of a fashion or decorating report.
Serious question here.... Why does it seem like so many folks avoid the sub forums? Some of the best fishing content on the entire web can be found in those pages.
When I want to chat, gossip, talk shit, learn how to dress, or any other such silliness I come to the main forum. When fishing is on my mind, I head to the sub forums.
Here ya go @Old Man Jim, I made it out to that really big river that @Freestone says is near her office (although I was somewhat "U/S" from her). This little girl fell to a perch fry fly fished over a shoal. A fishing report, just for you!
It must be the shack nasties hitting me. After a while when one can't get out it sort of gets to you. I haven't been out since September. I fucked up my side so casting is out of the question.
I don't own a floating device so lakes are out. Besides the lakes here all have a nice coating of ice on them. And It's hard to hit that little hole in the ice for ice fishing.
But thanks for all the fish porn. Just loving it. The trouble with getting old is when you screw up your body, it takes longer to heal. I was almost better then I took off after my great grand child. He's 28 months old and he's a holy terror. And damn quick. He can snatch anything and be gone in a flash. I reached for him and all my fucking pain is back. OUCH.

I usually have some fish pics I could share Jim but this late archery hunt is consuming me. Haven't been out for fish in awhile. Although there is a nice creek right outside camp I couldn't bring myself to take a day off from hunting...
I'm already damned tired of the weather and shorter daylight hours... and it isn't even officially winter yet
For some reason I miss fishing more this winter than any I can remember... maybe it's because I found some close places to fish and try out new patterns for trout and bass... however, those fisheries ain't worth crap this time of year!
So, Jim, hang in there and wait as fast as you can... that's what I'm doing. That and tying flies I won't really try for months.
I feel ya! It's dark when I go to work, and dark when I get out. I would prefer we adjust the time so that's it's dark until noon, but we still have an evening we can work with.
