Well said, grew up a Penn State fan growing up in Northern NJ which has always had a big PSU fan base. A cousin of my fathers who is the winningest HS coach in NJ history ( Warren Wolf) was recruited by Joe a long time ago to come their as a coach but he declined and stayed at the HS level and made history. Sad day it had to end this way for Joe, family and friends.

Seriously? Unless the allegations against Sandusky are false, Paterno's willing failure to act against the incidents reported to him render him infinitely less than a great man. They make him culpable for helping permanently and seriously scar numerous innocent kids. At least he is now relieved of his "misery and despair", unlike Sandusky's (apparently likely) victims.

My condolences go out to his family and fans.
But....Great Man?? Great football coach maybe. Was he responsible for the cure of cancer? Was he responsible to help end suffering in the world. He was a coach of a game. By his own words the two things in his life were football and his family. I don't think that puts him in Great Man status regardless of the scandal.

I agree, not today and innocent until proven guilty..and since today he is not on trial and breathed his last a little respect is in order.
After his funeral, go at it boys, if that is what turns your crank. Better to spend that time and anger towards good, IMHO.
The bad has been done and it appears he should have done more, IMHO, but it is moot now.

Also, he has given alot more money to help alot of people than most of us ever will..which includes libraries and such THAT MAY harbor the student that one day brings us the miracle cure for cancer so don't count out his good deeds yet!

Maybe staying neutral would be appropriate, but wow, I'm surprised anyone could laud the man given the cloud that hangs over him -- on the day of his death or any other day.

Then again, maybe you're members of this organization: http://nambla.org/welcome.html

I know a local trespassing neighbor/worthless SOB who will get that from me. My shoes are shined and if he goes before me, I will
be first in line to make sure they plant the right guy... :thumb:

How did you get into my bookmarks???:)

I think everyone (99.9%?) agrees on one thing, nothing good has come from any
of that stuff that happened. Maybe awareness and prevention, perhaps, are the only good.
