Sage pioneered the concept within SPL Series. Coupled with Danielsson built 'Sage' branded Traditional reels. Interesting 'foot' on the Lamson reel.. enable you to set it down.

It is a cool concept.. I'd love to find one under the tree!

I think it is an interesting idea, but personally I think that some Lamson reels are a little light and don't balance quite as well as I'd like. Maybe the "in-line" system would help with this, or it could even amplify the problem. I would love to cast one but my local shop doesn't have any in-store. I'm interested in what others have to say

Too weird looking for me. If the reel get damaged or needs repair, you're out both a rod and reel. Here's hoping it catches on like fire and the classifieds are over loaded with old school gear. Also that I see the listings before @Richard E or @Ed Call do. :D

I cast one at the PSFF function....not impressed. Don't want one, I like the older Sage version better....or here's mine. I call it "the wild thing"

I didn't know that Sage had the original concept. I'm always glad to learn something new!

Sage SLT Center Axis was from the early 80's? I think they started at one weight, also came with an adapter to use the Sage reel on other rods....pretty cool! Tim Lineham from TU TV fished them.

Or was it the sage SPL? ...don’t think SLT came around until mid late 90’s.

Steve I had forgotten that sage continued the center axis with the SLT series. Thanks for refresher of the past. For some reason I’m thinking the SPL days were early-mid 90’s and the SLT late 90’s to early 00’s.

So who makes the Lamson brand rods?

The Lamson is hideous, at least the sage from the late 90's looked ok... not the smartest guy out there... but I guess there was a reason the integrated design failed to go forward... I'll be looking forward to seeing this rod on SierraTradingPost @ 80% off next year.
