Um....what? Insults? What on earth are you talking about. I asked you a simple question. Not sure where ire and insults come into that.

Oh, and read again genius, nowhere did i accuse you of naming anything.

I'd venture to guess that because of Leland, many of you now fish the Sound, now you're bagging on him for mentioning the name of an extremely popular beach that always gets pressure. We all have our "secret spots" which aren't really secrets, we just like to think they are because we don't mention them on the net. This is kind of like someone getting on someone else for posting a Deschutes report in Oregon during the salmonfly hatch. guess what, every already knows, so who cares?

We need a face slap emoticon...

It's amazing how dense some people are. Not sure if it's just lack or reading comprehension or what, but they just. can't. get it.

How about we all make a pledge to spend at least as much time working to protect our waters, as we do fighting and flaming?

I read posts from most of you, and I know the vast majority are nice, helpful, decent, and dare I say it… polite folk. I've met some of you too, and you're the same good people in person. Honestly, let's channel our energies in a positive manner. The true threats to the things we love, from those who are ready, willing, and able to destroy them for profit, are very real. Join a conservation group. Write a letter. Clean up a beach or river bank.

It's better to be kind than is is to be "right." The world's got more than enough "dumb" as it is. I know we're better than this.

To be fair, every single fly shop and even cabelas will tell you to go to this beach. It gets pimped out harder than venoy overtons girlfriend.

On the flip slide we should all start posting fake reports and throw people off. "this coho was caught on the Yakima in front of reds fly shop"

    I like it:
"Just another day of pulling in big chrome steelhead from the platte river, just outside of Grand Island."

"Swung up this huge king salmon out of the Laramie, just off of 287"

"Got this bright chum just above Grand Coulee dam"

My next steelhead is going to be from the sno forks. There's a nice run that has a sweet tailout just before it goes over the falls.

What draws more attention than anything else is the ranting. I agree with the guys who don't favor hot spotting. Even though everyone knows about this area, hot spotting can and probably will increase traffic to a degree.

But what makes it really interesting to me is that the expressed frustration in the thread does even more "harm", it verifies the "greatness" of said spot. If it was a lame location no one would care to comment.

I've seen my favorite spots mentioned and I cringe at that. But I let it go and the conversation generally moves on and the topic usually ends up changing anyways due to someone hijacking it... But the minute people start brawling over it and making it a big deal, it verifies the spot as being a great location.

I used to fish it hard back in the day, heck I lived not even a minute from there. But crowds keep me away. I hit it from time to time, but am there more for my kids who enjoy the water and sand more than anything else.

Oh wait, I'll also bring my "set" in case there's a negligent dad out there swinging his kids through the current... ;)
