Awesome day! Someday I will get one of those!
Terrific job Bill! You really earned that chinook. I wish I could have been there to witness it. If you are not careful you might hook another one this year.
Thanks for the report for us guys in the office! It certainly sounds like a hell of a ride! Congrats on the beautiful fish. I always love it when the fly outfishes the gear, especially when they ask "you ever catch anything with that?", and then you take home all the bacon. Awesome!
I like the fact you were going for the Yahtzee with the jumbo Shock-N-Awe!
Bill, nice job, nice king. what does it weight and what was your leader weight? kudo's, bet the gear heads were crapping with that one.
32" x 20" is 16.5 lbs according to the online weight estimator that I used. The leader was 6' of 15 lb Maxima Ultragreen.
Tim, in that case I will be very uncareful for the next few weeks!
About 4" in length:
one word, awesome!
Sheesh. That - is - one - really - nice - big - fat - hunk of salmon. Good for you!!!
Awesome fish Bill. Makes me glad I'm following the guru's advice about 15lb leaders. Was that on a 6wt or 7wt?
I've been fishing 12lb, maybe I need to step it up! Great looking fish there Bill. Don't you fish an 8wt?
Josh, I usually fish an 8 weight starting in mid-July but I dropped some coin this Spring and picked up a 9'6" 7 weight Sage One...it is a super sweet rod and even with the Nook I felt it had the power to maintain good pressure on the fish. I'm glad I made the invesment.
Wow congrats Bil!!!l...it was a very slow morning and day out there and you were the talk of the town. "Some Fly Guy..." Good job!
