Line for SAGE VXP 5120 spey (12', 5wt)

    Anybody have experience with this rod? Not sure what line will work best. Thanks for any help.

    I use a 400gr Rio Skagit max on mine with light MOW tips. I love the rod!

    Hmmmm, I'll bet you hit the far shore a few times with that. :). Sounds good and I love the rod too. I am leaning towards a Scandi. I have some heads in the 400gr range so maybe I should try them out. Thought 400gr might be a bit heavy for that rod but maybe not. Thanks for your input. Appreciate it. Jack

    For Scandi, choose 1/2 weight below: 350-375gr.

    Skagit is shorter and chunkier compared to Scandi which is slender and longer.

    I like my 390gr Rage (Scandit hybrid) that cuts thru wind on my 5wt trout spey.

    Ya, it casts pretty decent with the 400 on it :D. I have a 320 scandi for it too. I'm just not very good with scandi lines. The rod is my go to summer steelhead rod.
