After years of searching, I found, The Camel Spider. Here in Northern California too! They live throughout the Great Basin including Montana. I spotted him when I was putting my dogs in their crate. He was outside. luckily. Bout' a # 8 hook.

Those are pretty interesting critters . . . and quick, in any direction! Around here they kill a lot of spiders. They can give you a good pinch if they manage to chomp.

Two summers ago I went to put on some old shoes that I had left in the garage. Something was in one, so I shook it, and out popped a camel spider. It was huge! Bigger than a pack of cigs

We were moving some pallets in Afghanistan and we kept seeing these dust trails shooting through the moon dust and it was freaking us out. One guy finally caught one that was about the size of a hand, after that we would see a dust trail and it would send us all running... You can't outrun those things, they are crazy fast when they want to be.

Another Camel Spider! The one I just seen ran faster,
couldn't catch him though. There's more of these things than I think.
