No real budget. I want something that will last. I am considering an Abel Swtich (not sure if it's the right size for rod) or a 6/8 Nautilus CCF-X2 if I want a drag (again not sure about size).
I'm using a Pfluegar 1495 on a Beulah 5/6. Pretty classy I think. Does the job just fine. With the 1Pfoot clutch (conversion to LHW) I'm out around $80. Just fyi.
Dave uses a Bauer M4SL/M3 on his Winston 4 weight Micro Spey; that reel would work well on a micro spey 5 weigh, as well. I have a new one, with the warranty and factory paperwork, available for sale. Large arbor, machined, made in USA (down in Portland), teflon and cork drag system, saltwater proof, 6.0 ounces - great reel.
If you're using mono running line (or even pvc) any 6-8 wt single hand reel will do. Don't over think it by needing a reel with 'Switch' or 'Spey' in its name.
Medalist.
In fact, the only reason I can think of to have a microspey is to be able to put a medalist on it.
Go sox,
Cds
