Did a 5 day trip to Delacroix and finally hit great conditions for almost every day. Redfish to 30" in 6 to 18" of water all day. Probably 40 shots a day and 20 eats.

An 8wt with floating line and either a shrimp or mullet fly. Most shots were less than 40ft so got some awesome visuals.

Fish were also eating crabs and having painful turds judging by first pic.

A great trip and relatively inexpensive by saltwater standards.

What were the go to mullet flies? My one trip to SW Florida I was overwhelmed by the number of mullet around.

There's a Mike Conner Midnight Mullet to left and some random pattern I slapped together that was working well for me. Marabou tail, white/silver chenille body, some flash and a big spun deer hair head. Muddler Mullet? :)

I kind of think the reds were taking Muddler Mullet for a crab though because it's the same color as most of a blue crab (brown and white) and though we saw lots of mullet, never saw any in the reds' stomach contents.. [IMG]

Great report and awesome trip man.... been thinking about red fish a lot lately for some reason never targeted them before but was considering a road trip down through New Mexico and then San Antonio with a side trip to the Port OConner area for some of these bad boys.... thanks for the inspiration amigo!!

One of my best fishing trips ever was down in that area.
    Love that place and fish.
