Anybody eat cat?
I know they are not hunted in mass numbers, so the intel on taste is limited.
You are gonna want to pass. Don't ask me how I know.
Makes descent sausage.
Maybe if you spice the hell out of it.
Had a "camp stew" with cat in it. ONCE. Took half a bottle of whiskey to get the taste out of my mouth.
Must...resist...temptation to comment...
I don't doubt that for a second! I am just saying the only way I have seen or heard how to make cougar palatable is to make it into sausage. Grind it up with a mix of 20% to 30% pork fat and a bunch of seasoning. Definitely not the best thing in the world but edible.
Curious, why do you ask? Do you hunt mountain lion with dogs?
I’ve never tried it, but I’ve had more people tell me it’s good than bad. Like anything else a lot depends on your personal taste.
I'd rather eat possum.
I’ve never had that, either, but it sure sounds nasty
Possum is a little greasier than a coon and a tad gamier than a squirrel.
All the dudes on meat eater rave about how great mountain puss tastes.
I was given a sample. It wasnt awful. I wouldn't go looking for it.
Haven't tried it myself, but I've only heard good things until this thread.
Bobcat was OK. These wild cats eat fresh meat, nothing tainted, so should not be extreme in flavor. Try eating coyote. Had one bite of that once but did not swallow.
