Had a great time some great folks. Sun. Rain. Larger than life vistas. 6 Grizzly bears, including a charging sow (I'm told I saved two dudes lives by warning them of the sow) and the sow and cub eating carcasses on the beach we stopped to pee on. Not sure if she was more scared or I was. We went somewhere else to pee. Fish. Dolly. Rainbow (including a Leopard) and Reds. Slept only briefly over 4 days. I'll do a bit more of that now that I am home. First time fishing in daylight after midnight. Surreal. Played with some new rods (I REALLY like the Echo 3 rods...). Blew up another Orvis rod. Note to self, 5 weight switch is not a good tool for tossing a Kenai Flip rig and putting the screws to 9# Reds. Oh well, I'll mail it in for repairs and maybe get one of those Echo 3 7 wt switches. And Reds (I've been told to stop calling them Sockeye) eat beads. Like this one...
I use a 10 wt. for the reds in the Kenai. Too much current and to much weight to the fish but they are the best to eat, IMHO. Switch rod seems too long but I've never tried one up there.
Sweet. Looks as though you enjoyed yourself, David. Congrats to you, that's awesome. It's on my bucket list.
