I went snorkeling in the Naches yesterday and I was amazed by the number of (small) fish there were. I saw fish almost everywhere I looked, although many of them were half inch babies, trout fingerlings, or baitfish (not sure on the species).
There were plenty of whitefish in there too, some of them decent sized. The whitefish seemed to be eating algae off the rocks. Catchable sized trout were not that numerous although I saw a few decent sized fish. One amazing moment was when I was looking downstream in about 3-4 feet of water and there were about 6 trout right in front of me, fighting the current, one of them good sized.
I should add that it is pretty difficult to manuever in there without getting swept downstream. Even in low water the current is very fast.
I'm going back with my pole tonight.
