Hello. Someone just gave me a 9 foot 'toon. I assume you float on these near fish. Other than this, I don't know anything about them. What I'm looking for is practice water near Seattle, like on the Sky, where I can get in and paddle around in class 2/3 water WITHOUT going downstream and finding the take-out. I just want to go up and downstream for a couple hundred feet or so, practicing ferry moves and eskimo roles (joke). Anyway, where on the Sky/Sno could I do this? I was thinking ofthe Monroe ramp, but not sure about paddling upstream for repeated "workouts." Thanks,

Go to a lake first, easier to get a feel for the boat. My first trip down a river I was with someone that knew the river well and could help me out during the float.

I ended up going to the put-in above Raving River at Fall City. This is pretty idea. Slow water mostly, but with a faster riffle at top to practice ferrying and peel outs. Now I'm seasoned.
