Ok guys. Came home at noon today, 2 days post surgery. Climbed 2 flights of stairs today. I don't have one bad thing to say about my surgeon, Dr. Keiras, or about Virginia Mason. So far, so good..no, great! Winter steelies are not off the table.

Thanks for the kind words and well wishes.

You will be amazed at how much more mobile you will become after the staples (if you had staples) are removed. When I had my right knee done I was driving at week four and very mobile. Good luck in your recovery. I found that physical therapy, although scary from the thought of preceived pain that did not happen, really helped in my recovery.

The pain lady came by today - very nice physical therapist. I have 92 degrees flexion in my knee 3 days post surgery. I have been given a green light to use a cane if I want, but I have to think about instead of just walking so I will use the walker for a few more days. BP is down 30 points, don't know where that comes from. This crazy...I think so and PT thinks so, too. I am super stoked and excited. Also very little pain (except during PT). Haven't had pain meds since about 10 this morning. Also no staples, only glue.

My wife had one done earlier this year. Good results. Hope you have the same kind of experience.

Do you have that machine you lay your leg in and it slowly flexs up? I did that machine for about three weeks every day and I pushed the envelope on time and degrees. It was boring having to sit for two four hour sessions in that machine but worth it in the end. If I remember correctly I was at about 110 degree flexion at about two or three weeks, but that was with the "merchants of pains" (Physical Therapists) pushing and there was a small amount of pain. I used to look forward to the ice pack and the end of PT.

I am pretty sure it was super glue, Daryle. I think I heard them ask a nurse to run down to 7-11 to get another couple of tubes. They were debating that or the "end of life" counseling...

Of course, the big question now is, "Will you be able to play the piano?"

    :p

Glad your recovery is going well. I only got to 100-degrees but I had tendon damage in 1989 that skews the results.

By the way my doc said that the flex machines are not used much any more but they decided to do it with me and I think it really helped.

The pain lady only really scares me when she brings out the ropes!
