Not exactly true. Automatic weapons are regulated by the National Firearms Act of 1934. There is a higher, much higher bar, one must pass to purchase and possess these weapons. They're also commonly referred to as "Class III" weapons. The only class III weapons Washingtonians can legally possess and fire are silencers, not automatic weapons, or short barrel rifles (SBR's).
