Anyone know if there are any restrictions on areas of the river that are closed due to the Oso slide ? and if so what they are?

I don't know of any restrictions. Their is very little visibility below the slide which renders everything downstream of this un-fishable. The security and construction companies that are managing the one lane travel through the slide area are occupying the area near C-post rd. I don't know if it would be advisable to park or hike in there. Out of respect for everyone I wouldn't do it.

I would agree with you on the respect issue,I'm thinking Hazel and above will be okay?

I would think that would be okay. Until the highway was cleared, the line for the City Light access road started right at the Hazel pull off. It would have been almost impossible to park there. Now the line is down by C-post. I've heard that they will probably still be using the City Light road on and off while construction of the road is under way.

Not seeing current numbers posted for the hatchery yet. You talk to someone at the ponds?

NF Stilly needs some rain. Upper river is very low and clear. About what one might expect in early to mid-July.

I encountered more fish than fisherman today. A very rare thing. The upper river is pretty low. I had to put a little mileage on the boots to find good holding water. I bought a old pfluger medalist off ebay last week and broke it in. It performed flawlessly. image.jpg

Chromer! Checked in on a number of my favorite stilly spots Saturday. Beautiful day, few other anglers and an LDR on one of the biggest bull trout I've ever seen in WA. But not a single steelhead encounter or even a sighting in the gin clear water.

Good to see there was at least one in there.

Glad you got some steelhead from up there HIllbilly Redneck and I hope your life is returning to normal. You are one of the true regulars on the Stilly and I know you catch more than most but I won't be fishing around there this year because I would just feel bad doing it. Enjoy it, you deserve to enjoy it more than me since it is on your doorstep. Hope to see you next year. Cheers!

Thanks HBW. Since the late winter/spring closures on local rivers I rarely steelhead anywhere besides the Stilly. For me not to fish it would pretty much mean not fishing at all.

Yep. That was me. It took me a while to get into some fish but the last hole of the morning provided some pretty good action. I really like Buddy. Nice dog!
