Oar length

    What are the advantages and disadvantages to different length oars. The market that I am in supplies either 7foot oars or 6ft. I do not know if I should be worrying about oar length or not.

    Daniel, size matters. Your boat size, seat height above water, shoulder height, oarlock height, boat width and oarlock to oarlock distance all influence the decision and alter the oar shaft angle, blade contact and position in the water and handle placement.
