Ever notice how when only one guy has heard of fish being caught he tells everybody he can?
Yard Sale ...I think you may be interpreting Rob's comments in a way he did not intend.
I and a buddy just spent two long days on the Rogue (floating) and a half day on the Umpqua........zilch, which is not typical for us.
the take home: tough. real tough.
I just got back from a 3 day skunking on the NU. Had one on for a hot second and one other tug but that's it.
It's been a long, fishless summer for me, c'est la vie.
I was at both rivers in August and saw nada steelhead this year. Every other year Ive gone up in August Ive gotten steelhead on the Rogue, but not this year. Everyone at Steamboat inn and camp water on the NU were singing the same sad tune as well. Nada.
Tough year for sure. Go in September if you can. Cooler water and fewer people.
For sure. However my Eastern Sierras trip was already my planned Sept. trip this year, was hoping to get some chrome in August to supplement my hiking/ rafting trip.
Late Sept/early Oct would absolutely be my preferred time on the Rogue and NU. Its also my second favorite time on the NF Stilly, after the last week in June/1st week of July.
My comment was made in jest. Guess I forgot the
Tough year up and down the west coast for sure.
But the runs are free of people. Just have to fish 4 times as many runs to find a fish.
Whelp, maybe that will be an new trend. The less people, not the less fish part.
It's amazing how far one fish can carry me. It just takes one....
The tug is the drug!!! One steelhead makes the multi hour drive to a fishable river worth it for me
Make America chrome again
Just go fish man.
Prior to this summer I'd started to think I'd made some legit progress on figuring out this steelheading biz, it's not the first time I've been wrong.
Heading to the rogue in a few weeks...Late sept through oct is definitely the preferred time to me for hitting stuff in that area...Its been a few yrs so it will be fun, and if lucky might even get a few tugs.
I need this as a bumper sticker
