I like hosting swaps, quite fun. This is it. Tie something , anything that you would think would catch fish in still waters. Can't be a standard pattern, you have to invent it yourself. Guess I'll call it the new pattern swap. 12 tiers.
So just to suck a bit more... My baby had to go back into surgury today to fix a hernia, as such I didn't get the flies out. If you guys aren't to mad, is getting them to the swapmiester on monday cool? I've got 4 of those new fangled flies done, but it takes a while to get the rest out.... If this is a huge issue, just let me know and I'll try to make it up to you guys!
Yeah... but my wife doesn't complain about Sh**.... More and more I'm starting to realize I'm a complete puss. My wife, C-Section, no narcotics, Advil for pain meds, up and running around in 12 hours.... James, small splinter, out like a like chewing on Percecet and Oxycoton, acting like I'm being killed by flesh eating bacteria....
My gut feel is if my wife gets a hernia, she'd strangle *IT* instead of the other way around.
Daryle; First of all, I would like to thank you for hosting the Stillwater Fly Swap. As always I enjoy the anticipation of receiveing something new from a fellow flyfisher/tyer.

I have never met anyone on this message board as I live in SoCal, but I do have an occasion to visit/fish in Washington when I go to see my Sister and her family in Edmonds. So, I am looking forward to the day I actually run into a member while I am on the water.
Following is my materials list for the Serria Peacock.
Hook: 2x or 3x (Tiemco 5272,5263)
Tail: 4or 5 peacock swards
Body: 6 twisted peacock Hurls with fine wire (optional)
Hackle: Webby Irridencent spade freather
OK, I get the loser of the year award. I signed up for this back in march about the same tied I signed up for 2 others. Only problem is, I confused this one with one of the others. I have never even looked into this thread since I first saw it in March until Daryle PM'd me this weekend. I was just about to tell him he had me mixed up with someone else, but checked the thread just in case - sure enough, there was my name...:beathead:
So, I started working on some over the (busy) weekend (between graduation parties and Father's Day activities) and tied up over 1/2 the flies, but still need anther night or two at the most.
I feel like a total jerk. I apologize for dropping the ball on you guys.
I'll leave it up to you guys and Daryle to decide if you want to wait a few days or just send what he has.
No rush, I can't stand it when people get mad because your schedule doesn't fit theirs. If you're going to get mad when someone holds up a swap for a couple days, don't be in a swap. Take your time man.
Thanks guys. I need one more night and I'll have them out. WOuld have been done last night, but my 6yr old sliced his foot open as he was getting ready for bed and I spent the next several hours in the ER with him. He's fine and didn't end up needing stitches due to the location of the cut, but there sure was a lot of blood...
They were initially meant to be a perch fry \ bait fish type pattern - green back, yellow body, some flash and some red for extra attraction...
But "Perch Baby" just didn't seem to fit. Nor did I like "Perch Fry".
The yellow belly got me hooked on the "French" aspect of the fly.
So I thought about "frech fries". all those skinny little yellow baitfish patterns in my plastic container just looked like a box of fries from McD's or something. The red marks could be ketchup.
And in a pinch, they could be used as damsel nymphs. And with some slight trimming here and there, there are many other things they could represent.
They are quick to make (fast food) and the quality is marginal (I'm still a new tier), and the materials are nothing fancy. So the name really does fit.
Basically they are more than just 'perch fry'. They are a tasty snack for big trout - "french fries".
Anway, thanks for waiting and hopefully we'll all have our flies by the end of week in time to try out this weekend!
Got mine this morning, i especially like the peacock herl bugger. Looks like a great pattern for bluegill.
