Mako shark on the fly that these fellas had no hope in hell of landing. Fast forward to the 8 min mark for the action.

The excitement in these guys' voices is what makes the video so cool. Yeah, the shark is cool, too ...

"OMG look at that f**king fish!"

"Oh your so f**king beautiful! Jesus!.... sorry...."

"When he eats, I'm going to drive away so that he doesn't jump on the boat."

I have a trip for these bad boys booked. Probably won't suck.

But it probably won't be as cool as that.

I was fishing in the same tournament as those guys that day. They were pretty pumped when they got back to the landing. You lose points in the tournament for any fly you lose to a fish, so you take a risk casting to the big ones, but I'd rather pull on another one of those than win a tournament any day. I only know of two makos in that size class that have been landed on fly - mine in 2006 and another one by a guy named Everet Evans a few years ago. He's a lucky bastard when it comes to big makos. He got into one around 300 pounds a couple of days after I last fished for makos (and only landed one small one) last summer:

And here's a clip of Everet's big one:

What is that fly? It looks like an old mop! Can you explain the materials and what it is imitating?
