Never fished Pass Lake before and I see that the forecast calls for 10mph winds out of the south tomorrow morning. How much of an issue is the wind there? I'd be in a float tube.

The wind can be your friend there.

In general, white caps start forming with sustained 12-15mph wind. That’s enough to make you think twice if you end up at the far end in a float tube with a long kick back to the launch. When I’m in my pram, gusts over 20mph will blow me off anchor unless I make some extra efforts. It’s often worth staying out (within reason) because wind=cover and . Use it to your advantage!

Get there early enough, around 6am and you won't even need to get in the water because the fish are very active near the launch area (minnows) :)

Wind at Pass Lake (to me) has proven to be be a complex issue. Sometimes it's blowing hard in Anacortes but Pass Lake is like glass. I've been at the far end (in a float tube) thinking I better get back to my truck (because of wind) only to fin like hell for an hour before the wind let up completely. I really like it when the lake is like glass but fishing seems better (for me) when it is not. I have now decided to not let the wind stop me from driving to Pass Lake. When it is windy I stay close to the ramp, when it is calm I like to explore, but I have learned that the wind can change very quickly .

Part of the game. On one of my favorite BC lakes I favor a corner of a large shoal. I anchor fore and aft right on the point of the drop off, get two rods a fishing and the wind shifts. Iracators floaring back at me. Used to get to me, now I adjust. Sense of humor.

regardless of which direction the wind is blowing when you start you can bet it will be going against you on way back:D
