What a great report! Seize the day.
I speculate that fish is post-spawn. Got beat up on the redds servicing all the lady browns, almost got snatched up by something with talons and when he had his fill, dropped back down to where you were. That's my story.

You nailed one biologist's theory exactly. Another theory was he got it at a hatchery at an earlier date. But these browns(or most of them), have never seen a hatchery. Self-sustaining population.

The plumbing is all done. I had to make a run to the hardware store at 7 am this morning to finish it. Letting it dry out, spray with bleach solution to deter mold, and I'll start covering it back up.

I don't usually read posts more than a single paragraph but that was great. Perseverance pays off. Nice catching fish around a good storm.

Maybe it's just me, but I'm not seeing the pictures of the "ugly" fish. I do see the pictures of a beautiful brown that's won the battle and is winning the war.

Great fish. Just a great fish.

    Very nice report indeed.

"And then "disaster" struck! A two foot bow rocketed out of the weeds, and literally snatched the fly out of the brown's mouth."

    I think I hate you.;)

Look what can happen when you don't let the business and storms of life keep you from living! If you hadn't got out of the truck, even with the storm approaching, and takin advantage of the one hour you had you would've had the story, the experience or the fish.
As always, your stories amaze me! Thanks for sharing and great fish!
