Hey guys, back from the carribean Mon' :thumb:
I'm a metal head and a sucker for old prison country. System of a down and slipknot blended with the highway men and some dylan, jack and dave. :beer2:
OK, that actually made me laugh out loud. :thumb:
THE HARD STUFF - FLOATER !!
THE GRASS/BLUES TIP- BASTARD SONS OF JOHNNY CASH, OL' 57'S
AND SOME GOOD OL' "CAR TALK" ON NPR'
Live Free is a Son Volt tune. Both great bands, "either way" (Wilco tune).
Yesterday on my way to the river;
Ryan Adams & The Cardinals
Pickin' On Modest Mouse (Bluegrass versions of MM songs, much better than the originals IMO)
I listen to everything good, from AC-DC to Zappa. A to Z and everything in between including jazz, classical, all of it. My band of bands my "rock gods" however are the one and only Jane's Addiction. Seen em 30 times back in the day mostly in clubs and to drive up on a summer-run river with the sun just cracking the horizon, seeing the river come alive, knowing it's a day of wet-wading and dryline fishing and hearing "Summertime Rolls" just about brings tears to my eyes. In the winter I like to blast "Three Days" as I hit Howard Miller and head up the Skagit, or as I hit the Darrington store running down the Sauk. I'm going to do "Kettle Whistle" as I drive to some bone flats today. After a long winter day speyfishing, I like "The Bueno Vista Social Club" or something mellow but sporty. For road-trips some Dead bootlegs. The long tight jams make the trip go faster. Tight lines Coach
Need I say more!!!
how about some lamb of god, unearth, slayer, killswitch engage, rise against, nofx, millencolin, social distortion, and anything else that gets my blood flowing.
joy division, sisters of mercy, neurosis, isis, bauhaus, morrissey, martyr ad, blood for blood
Zeppelin is the luckiest for steelhead. Metallica is good for rainy days. If you want to get down and dirty a little slipknot is good for the soul.
lots a metal around here eh??
Allmans to Zappa with a lot of Dead/Jerry Garcia Band/Grisman/Bluegrass related hillbilly stuff. Hayseed Dixie is freaking hilarious. AC/DC done to a bluegrass beat. Those guys are pretty ripping!
definitions of metal differ. guys like Ian Broadie and myself would say not a single metal band has been listed yet
edit: slayer has been listed. that's metal
What's your definition of metal?
