Just curious as to how many people here vote For a candidate as opposed to voting Against the other candidate?

I find myself voting against Obama, not for McCain.

PP, I can fly fish with my left wing, my right wing and my winged flies have both a left and a right so that I can cast them straight.

Seriously, vote for mumbles, attentive listener, types like a yeoman (read administrative assistant) and would run on a platform that those who choose to fly fish at lunch get as long as they would like and can opt to stay away from work when the fishing is good. You do have to make up the time, but you are fly anglers, an honest bunch that can keep track of your water hours, right?

Scoones, Coach, Mingo, throw in Salmo G all excellent candidates. The press secretary has to be Wadin' Boot though, or I'm not supporting the ticket.

Voting for the lesser of two evils :ray1::ray1:.....except I think McCain might have the horns

OMJ calling me his friend and Mingo in a american flag speedo waiving a 22. rifle on a dock at Lake Sammamish would win my vote for Pres and VP! ptyd

OMJ is holding a fly rod when he calls you his friend, right? Would Mingo have that huge trout hanging off his dangler in that speedo in the photo? Maybe he would need a club or gaff instead of a rifle. I could totally see myself voting for that, although that image of mingo is kind of scary.

If I was not enthusiastically supporting one of the major party candidates I would write in the smartest man in the U.S. Theo Epstein.

Charles, wouldn't that be Epstein / Francona 2012? Your enthusiasm has 2008 covered for now, right?

I suppose '16 but it's all a moot point. Theo isn't old enough to be president. He's 34. I believe you have to be 36 but it may be higher than that. Additionally, Mr. Epstein just agreed to a new 3 year contract. Assuming he honored all 3 years there wouldn't be time for boy genius to run in 20012 either.

What is it now 10 days to the election. I'll be glad when it's over. I believe that it will be good for the country too. This election cycle has seemed to go on for ever.

    Peter,

I suspect that you could track why flyfishermen on this site a more left leaning by our demographics. I certainly think that the conservation aspect of flyfishing has something to do with it as well.

The one gear based board that I occasionally post on seems to be more of an even split.

    Go Sox,

I agree with you. I'm not a huge McCain fan, but it's the best bad alternative for me.

It's just like the old southpark episode...vote for a Douchebag or a Shit Sandwich, but I gotta vote. I picked one, not telling who. Presidential elections are so f'ing depressing. Nobody worth a crap ever gets a major party ticket.

I'm for Hasslehof as well. Good choice.

Seems to me like a lot (sorry for the generalization) of gear chuckers want to keep EVERY damn fish they catch and waterslappers are more prone to conservation. rightwing/leftwing, I don't know. just my observation. If you look at the gearchuckers site, it is full of photos of loads of fish on a string, fly forum has photos of one....and it probably was released.

I see gear chucker's bumper stickers for Republicans and Fly throwers bumper-stickers for dems. odd?
