My stage name here is the nick name I picked up in college in Michigan - I was a guide on the Au Sable, Jordan and Manistee Rivers to assist with the cost of a higher education. My initials became my daily name.

The Avatar is a part of a graphic design I made up for a presentation to a client - he picked another design and this one reverted to me.

Every time I see your avatar, it looks like somebody is peeing on a snow bank. Credit this to bad eyes and a small picture.

My name? beacuse I always wanted a pen name/alter ego/partial anonymity anyways
My Avatar- It changes, The P-38 is beautiful. I love history + things that fly. The P-38 looks like it is from a different era, maybe even the future, certainly not 1937. I like the way it's over some sandhills, like maybe it's in the empty quarter or something. That and the left prop is visible more than the right, making me wonder if that bird is in trouble, if it'll fly well with one engine out...
The avatars here have always fascinated me
My quote- just some stupid stuff from Lebowski...

I cropped my avatar from the one above.

An illustrator friend of mine drew this as a joke after a long discussion about aquatic entomology and my long time fascination with these creatures.

My name is Trapper, but that was already in use, so I went with MT (as in Montana) Trapper.

Gene - The illustrator does a lot of kids books on dinosaurs, so that's probably the reason. Plecoptera are the most prehistoric looking, but this Mayfly does indeed look like he means business. I think Rob heard me say I use super glue to get bugs to stand still for a photograph, so maybe it's about turning the tables on me.

I live on Gastineau Channel, and used to fish a little fly called the Gastineau Smolt.
I got a hotmail account way back when you didn't need "11198" or "JRjr" behind your name, but a few message boards on the innertubes didn't like gastineau_smolt@ as a login so I chopped it off at G_Smolt.
Avatar is a piggy rainbow from Bristol Bay, shot with a fisheye for a weird "is this yours?" look.

I like beer and " Steelhead" has been one of my favorite brews for many years. But, I admit, I am a sucker for any "label" beer or wine that has a fish name or logo i.e. "FishTail Ale", "Sockeye" wine, etc. etc.

The name is a Sioux/Shoshone Indian word meaning "To Be true" and "Trusted Loyal Friend".
Came across the word many years ago, and named a choc. lab with it.

When the net came into being, I figured if I used it I wouldn't ever have a problem with it being taken.

The avatar...I have a few ponies. Used to have a horse packing biz, but just ride to get out in the back country to access the mountain lakes and streams.

Well, the avatar should be obvious, it's me. What is not obvious is the story behind my nickname. Growing up I never acquired a nickname. Only late in life did one appear. It's derived from an essay by Thomas McQuane in his book "Some Horses". To find out the answer you'll have to fish with me sometime as the tale is best told in person.
